Job summary

Synergy Jobs (Pty) Ltd in Glenwood, Durban is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support daily financial processes within the accounts department. You will handle journal entries, reconciliations, and the preparation of monthly management accounts under supervision.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong accounting knowledge, confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure. Experience in bookkeeping or finance education and a minimum matric are preferred; 5 years+

Qualifications

• Minimum matric and tertiary education in Bookkeeping or Finance.
• 5+ years accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in an accounting firm would be advantageous.
• Attention to detail and high level of integrity.

Responsibilities

• Raising monthly accruals.
• Processing depreciation and salaries journal entries.
• Maintaining general ledger journals for management accounts.
• Assist with external audits and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts and prepare age analyses.
• Assist with VAT/Tax compliance and provisional tax calculations.
