Placements24 is seeking a talented Pastry Chef in George, Western Cape, to craft artisanal pastries, cakes, and desserts for weddings, corporate galas, and exclusive private functions.

You will design, prepare and present stunning pastry creations, lead the pastry section, and collaborate with the Head Chef to seamlessly integrate desserts into event menus. A strong portfolio and formal culinary certification are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or senior pastry role.
• Strong portfolio showcasing diverse pastry creations.
• Deep knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients and baking science.
• Creative talent in dessert design and presentation.
• Ability to manage pastry kitchen inventory, orders and costs.
• Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, prepare and present a wide range of artisanal pastries, cakes and desserts.
• Develop new dessert recipes and stay current with culinary trends.
• Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all pastry products.
• Manage the pastry section including inventory, ordering and waste reduction.
• Collaborate with Head Chef to integrate pastry into event menus.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in pastry area and comply with hygiene regs.
• Mentor junior pastry staff and foster a positive team environment.
• Contribute ideas for dessert presentations and themed displays for events.
• Ensure production schedules meet event demands without compromising quality.
