Job summary

Sandvik Mining is a global leading supplier of mining equipment and services. The role provides technical support in mechanical maintenance to keep machines reliable and cost-efficient.

You will work to improve performance, safety and cleanliness in a demanding mining environment. Applicants should have Grade 12 or equivalent, with Section 13/26D trade certificates, and at least five years of mining and mechanised mining experience, including underground/surface exposure.

Qualifications

• Basic computer literacy is required.
• English proficiency is required.
• Grade 12 or equivalent technical qualification.
• Section 13 or 26D Trade Certificate with apprenticeship proof.
• Mining experience preferred (5 years).
• Mechanised mining experience (5 years).
• Underground/surface mining environment exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical maintenance support to ensure reliability and performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and support planning and documentation.
• Work according to SOPs and achieve maintenance targets.
• Ensure safety and housekeeping standards are followed and communicate deviations.
• Contribute to continuous improvements at personal and operational levels.

The Role

Provides technical support in mechanical maintenance. Maintains and improves machines and equipment to increase or maintain a high level of reliability, availability, cost efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical maintenance operations.
• Preventive maintenance, perform corrective actions, supports planning and preparation, monitors outcome, documentation (outcome, root cause, time, improvements).
• Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Achievement of maintenance targets.
• Follow quality and cleanliness standards.
• Communication of operational status and any deviations.
• Safety and housekeeping (5S) requirements.
• Continuous improvements and development on a personal and operational level.

Profile Required

• Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification
• Section 13 or 26D Trade Certificate, accompanied with proof of apprenticeship.
• Basic Computer literacy
• English proficiency
• Relevant mining experience (5 years)
• Relevant mechanised mining experience (5 years)
• Underground/surface mining environment
• Maintenance of earthmoving equipment in mining/construction environment
