Job summary

Servest Security in Secunda seeks an Armed Response Officer to protect people, property and assets, responding rapidly to incidents, alarms and threats.

The role requires Matric, PSIRA certification, and extensive security experience, with strong firearm handling, observation, reporting, and knowledge of access control.

You will operate on-site in Secunda, liaising with law enforcement and emergency services, writing clear incident reports and maintaining safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• Valid PSIRA Certificate.
• Grade 10/11 report with minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the security industry.
• Experience as an Armed Guard/Armed Response Officer.
• Exposure to high-risk environments (mining, industrial).
• Firearm Competency Certificates for all three categories (including business purpose).
• Medical fitness certificate.
• Valid driver’s licence (Code 8/B or higher – depending on site).
• Must reside in Secunda.
• Excellent firearm handling and safety knowledge.
• Observation and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of access control, patrol procedures.
• Basic computer literacy (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the premises.
• Monitoring access control and searching suspicious persons or vehicles.
• Preventing theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
• Responding to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations.
• Carrying and handling firearms in accordance with legal and company procedures.
• Writing incident and occurrence reports.
• Ensuring compliance with security policies and safety procedures.
• Assisting employees, visitors, and clients when required.
• Liaising with law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
• Supervising security risks and maintaining order on site.
