Job summary

Placements24 is seeking enthusiastic individuals for a Trainee Fitters and Turners apprenticeship in Centurion, Gauteng. You will train in precision machining, assembly, and maintenance of mechanical components, learning to operate lathes and milling machines on a variety of parts.

The program emphasises a meticulous mindset, strong mechanical aptitude, and a hands-on career path with mentorship from skilled tradespeople in a modern Centurion workshop.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with passes in Mathematics and Physical Science preferred.
• Strong interest in mechanical engineering, machining and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Manual dexterity and good hand–eye coordination.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate lathes, milling machines and other machine tools to precise specifications.
• Fabricate, assemble and fit mechanical components and assemblies.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications.
• Perform measurements and calculations accurately using precision instruments.
• Assist in maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
• Understand and apply safety regulations in a workshop environment.
• Select appropriate materials and tools for specific machining tasks.
• Conduct quality checks on finished parts to ensure standards.
• Participate in theoretical and practical training modules.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
