Placements24 is offering an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter and Turner role in Nelspruit (Mbombela). The program provides hands-on training with lathes, milling machines, and precision tools, developing skills in machining, assembly, and component repair within a supportive team.

You will learn to read engineering drawings, measure parts for accuracy, and follow safety procedures while progressing toward a recognized trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter and Turner Artisan.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent with strong Mathematics and Technical subjects.
• Genuine interest in mechanical engineering, machining and precision work.
• Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to the full apprenticeship period, including theoretical training.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to precise specifications.
• Assist in the assembly, fitting, and installation of mechanical components and machinery.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to produce required parts.
• Gain experience measuring and inspecting components for accuracy and quality.
• Follow workshop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
