POSITION: AI & Process Automation Specialist

LOCATION: Claremont, Cape Town

Job Summary

We are seeking an innovative AI & Process Automation Specialist tailored to the fast-paced fresh produce sector. In this role, you will eliminate manual administrative friction, optimize packhouse and supply chain workflows, and drive operational speed from farm gate to market. You will build intelligent automations using Microsoft Power Automate paired with advanced AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, and customized AI agents) to handle document-heavy fresh produce tasks—such as automated intake of intake/QC reports, shipping documents, and supplier invoices—converting manual tasks into automated, exception-based reporting pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Fresh Produce Workflow Automation : Map and automate multi-step supply chain and packhouse workflows (e.g., replacing manual downloading, saving, and re-uploading of bill of ladings, intake temperature/QC sheets, and delivery notes into ERP systems).
• AI Engine & Document Processing : Implement ChatGPT, Claude, and specialized AI agents to scan, parse, and interpret complex unstructured data (e.g., non-standard grower dispatch notes, quality inspection PDFs, and supplier invoices).
• Exception-Based Reporting & Analytics: Build automated flows that continuously scan high-volume operational data, generate automated summary reports, and immediately trigger alerts for exceptions (e.g., fruit quality rejections, cold-chain temperature breaches, or quantity mismatches).
• System Integration: Utilize Power Automate and APIs to bridge communication between on farm/packhouse data capture, legacy ERPs, logistics systems, and reporting dashboards.
• Process Optimization & Efficiency: Analyse daily administrative tasks across receiving, dispatch, quality control, and finance to dramatically shorten processing cycles and minimize human error.
• Monitoring & Maintenance: Continuously optimize AI prompts and automated scripts to ensure high precision in document extraction and process reliability during peak harvest seasons.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Technical Skillset: Proven hands-on experience building complex workflows with Microsoft Power Automate (Desktop & Cloud) and API integrations.
• AI & LLM Mastery: Practical experience applying AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, prompt engineering, or LLM APIs) to real-world document extraction and unstructured data processing.
• Industry Context: Understanding of supply chain, logistics, packhouse, or fresh produce operational dynamics (e.g., handling variable supplier documents, inventory tracking, batch/lot tracking, or quality compliance data) is highly advantageous.
• Data & Scripting: Proficiency working with data formats (JSON, CSV, Excel), Power Platform tools, and basic scripting to handle edge cases.
• Problem-Solving: Exceptional capability to spot manual friction points in daily operations and re-engineer them into lean, automated workflows.
