Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an AI/ML Infrastructure Engineer in Upington to design, build, and optimize scalable infrastructure for ML development, training, and inference. You will manage cloud services and CI/CD pipelines to support data scientists and ML engineers.

The role demands experience with Docker/Kubernetes, IaC tools, and scripting, in a hybrid work setting based in Upington. A strong systems engineering background is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in infrastructure engineering with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven experience AI/ML workloads; familiarity with ML frameworks and tools.
• Strong containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and IaC (Terraform, Ansible).
• Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting.
• Ability to manage complex systems in a hybrid Upington-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable infra for AI/ML development, training, and inference.
• Manage cloud-based ML platforms and services (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, Google AI Platform).
• Optimize infra for performance, cost, reliability of AI/ML workloads.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for ML models (MLOps).
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to support infra needs.
