Placements24 is seeking an AI Ethics and Governance Lead to establish robust ethical frameworks and governance for AI initiatives at our Sandton headquarters. You will guide policy, risk assessment, and training across the organization to ensure responsible AI development and deployment.

You will lead cross-functional teams, monitor global ethics regulations, and engage stakeholders to promote ethical innovation in AI while aligning with societal expectations and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a relevant field with focus on technology ethics or AI governance.
• 6+ years in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology policy or related fields.
• Deep knowledge of AI technologies and their ethical implications.
• Proven experience developing ethical frameworks and governance structures.
• Strong understanding of legal and regulatory landscapes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience in training and capacity building is a plus.
• Ability to lead and collaborate in Sandton, Gauteng.

About the Role

This pivotal role will be based at our headquarters in Sandton, Gauteng . You will be responsible for establishing and overseeing robust ethical frameworks and governance structures for the development and deployment of artificial intelligence across the organization. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of ethical principles, regulatory requirements, and the societal impact of AI, combined with strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities. Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Law, Ethics, Public Policy, Philosophy, Computer Science, or a related field, with a focus on technology ethics or AI governance.
• Significant experience (6+ years) in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology policy, or related fields, preferably in a corporate setting.
• In-depth knowledge of AI technologies and their ethical implications.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing ethical frameworks and governance structures.
• Strong understanding of relevant legal and regulatory landscapes.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in training and capacity building is a plus.
• Ability to lead and collaborate effectively within a team in Sandton, Gauteng .
