Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment is seeking an experienced AI Automation Engineer in Johannesburg to design and deliver an AI-native Payments Operating System. You will take automation opportunities from idea through build, testing, deployment and production support, ensuring scalable, auditable and secure AI solutions.

You will work with Payments, Infrastructure, Compliance and AI teams to deploy AI agents, automate workflows and governance controls across reconciliation, reporting and analytics.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing and delivering AI automation solutions.
• Proficiency with LLMs such as Claude/Anthropic APIs and AI orchestration.
• Experience with workflow automation tools like n8n and MCP-based architectures.
• Excellent API integration, data pipelines, and system integration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI agents and automation workflows for reconciliations, audit, reporting and analytics.
• Develop AI automation using Claude/Anthropic APIs, Python/Java, and n8n.
• Integrate AI solutions with internal and external systems via APIs and data pipelines.
• Implement AI governance, risk controls, access controls and audit logging.
• Monitor efficiency, cost savings, risk and ROI for AI automation.
