About the Role

Our client, a well-regarded educational institution in Centurion, Gauteng, is looking for a dynamic and responsible Aftercare Facilitator to join their team. This role focuses on providing a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for primary school-aged children after regular school hours. The Aftercare Facilitator will be responsible for supervising homework, organizing recreational activities, and ensuring the well-being of the children in their care. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site responsibilities with potential for some remote administrative or planning tasks. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about child development, creative in their approach to activities, and capable of managing a group of children effectively. The ideal candidate will be a positive role model, fostering a supportive and fun atmosphere where children can relax, learn, and grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise children aged 6-12 years in the aftercare program, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
• Assist children with homework completion, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Plan, organize, and lead a variety of stimulating recreational activities, games, and crafts.
• Manage group dynamics, promoting positive social interaction and conflict resolution among children.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly aftercare environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's day, progress, and any concerns.
• Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including safety protocols and emergency response plans.
• Potentially engage in remote planning or administrative tasks related to the aftercare program as agreed upon.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children in a school, aftercare, or youth program setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a group of children and plan age-appropriate activities.
• Strong understanding of child safety and supervision principles.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and staff.
• Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of homework support and academic assistance.
• First Aid certification is an advantage.
