Michael Oak Waldorf School in Cape Town invites applications for an Afrikaans teacher for Grades 10–12. This part-time role begins in 2027 and centres on delivering Afrikaans as a First Additional Language in the FET phase, with examination preparation.

The ideal candidate holds an FET Phase teaching qualification with Afrikaans specialization, current SACE registration, and at least two years’ post-qualification teaching experience. CAPS-based assessment knowledge is preferred.

Our preferred candidate will be passionate about teaching Afrikaans in the FET phase at a FIRST additional language level.

The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

• A formal teaching qualification in the FET Phase, with Afrikaans as a specialisation
• Current SACE registration
• At least two years’ post-qualification experience teaching Afrikaans in Grades 10 to 12, including preparing learners for the final examination
• Working knowledge of CAPS Afrikaans assessment, including School-Based Assessment

• caring and enthusiastic, and dedicated to young people and their development
• self-motivated and able to work independently without formal supervision
• able to work well with our community of staff, learners and parents
• willing to contribute actively to the collective management of the school
