S&P Global Energy is seeking an Upstream Petroleum Legal Analyst for Africa, based in Cape Town with a London link. You will analyze legal, regulatory and fiscal developments shaping upstream oil and gas investment across Africa and communicate findings to clients and policymakers.

The role offers cross-regional collaboration and leverage of energy market insights. Ideal candidates have experience in upstream petroleum law or energy regulation, plus strong research, writing and presentation

Qualifications

Relevant legal or project economics experience in energy, petroleum, mining, taxation or related law
A few years of upstream petroleum legal analysis, energy regulation or energy-sector research
Experience researching and interpreting legal/regulatory frameworks and communicating findings clearly
Ability to translate qualitative/quantitative info into clear insights
Clear written/spoken English; presenting findings to audiences
French/Portuguese skills preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsabilités

Research and interpret developments affecting Africa's upstream oil and gas sector and communicate findings clearly
Assess how regulatory and fiscal developments may impact upstream operations and investments
Share insights with clients through presentations and discussions on regulatory risk
Maintain regulatory tracking resources and contribute to risk assessments
Collaborate across disciplines to produce integrated research on African energy trends
Develop subject-matter expertise and provide actionable legal/commercial insights to clients and policymakers
