Our client, a respected public sector organisation based in Pretoria, is seeking to appoint an experienced Acting Head: Finance on a temporary basis for approximately 6 months.

This opportunity is suited to a highly experienced and immediately available Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) with strong executive-level financial leadership experience and the ability to provide strategic and operational financial oversight in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership and oversight of the full finance function.
• Leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations, governance standards, and internal controls.
• Managing cash flow, financial risk, and organisational financial sustainability.
• Overseeing audit preparation and stakeholder engagement.
• Supporting executive decision-making through strategic financial insights and analysis.
• Leading and mentoring finance teams to ensure operational excellence.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) – non‑negotiable.
• Relevant postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
• Extensive senior/executive finance leadership experience.
• Proven experience in:

  • Risk and compliance

• Previous experience within public sector, SOE, or government entities will be highly advantageous.
• Strong leadership and decision‑making capabilities.
