Acumen Group is seeking a detail-oriented Professional Accountant / AGA(SA) to join its high-performing finance team in South Africa. The ideal candidate will be recently qualified or experienced, with strong IFRS knowledge and a commitment to financial accuracy.

You will prepare monthly management accounts, assist with month-end/quarter-end/year-end closes, manage balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, while supporting audits and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience including articles accounting experience preferred.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and financial reporting standards.

Responsabilités

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Professional Accountant / AGA(SA) to join their high-performing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified or experienced Associate General Accountant (South Africa) looking to further their career in a dynamic and regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and financial regulations.
• Support external and internal audits by preparing required schedules and documentation.
• Manage fixed asset registers and depreciation calculations.
• Process and review financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury-related activities.
• Prepare statutory returns including VAT and other regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to provide financial insights and reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial controls and efficiencies.

Requirements

• AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant
• Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience including articles accounting experience preferred.
• Previous experience within the Insurance, Financial Services, Asset Management, Pension Funds is highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Pastel, Sage, or similar.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
