Job summary

Headhunters is seeking an experienced Accountant in the Eastern Cape to manage financial records, assist with monthly management accounts, and support cash flow forecasting. You will report to the CFO and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

The ideal candidate holds a BCom Accounting, has Syspro ERP experience, strong Forex knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and excellent communication to coordinate with banks, suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level accounting qualification with solid understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience in financial reporting and compliance with standards.
• Experience with Syspro ERP and Forex transactions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Manage foreign exchange transactions and related reconciliations.
• Process and reconcile banking transactions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Support year-end audit processes and statutory reporting.
• Analyse financial data and provide recommendations to management.
• Maintain accurate financial controls and documentation.
• Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, banks, and external stakeholders as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

Requirements:

• Minimum BCom Accounting or equivalent tertiary qualification.


• Proven experience in a similar Accountant role.


• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles.


• Experience working with Syspro ERP.


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with advanced spreadsheet skills.


• Experience using online banking platforms and banking applications.


• Sound knowledge of foreign exchange (Forex) transactions, preferably within an import and export environment.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.


• Strong organisational and time management skills.


• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
