Job summary

The University of Johannesburg is seeking a Keys Officer II (P12) to maintain campus security systems and access control. You will install, repair, and re-key locks, manage key control, and perform preventive maintenance across university facilities.

Based across workshop and campus locations, you will liaise with staff and contractors, maintain records, and respond to security incidents and urgent maintenance requests while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Candidates with NQF5 qualification or higher may receive preference.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety in the operational environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with e-mail (Microsoft Outlook), word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and Internet use.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, repair, and re-key locks, cylinders, and related hardware for security of university facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections of doors and locking systems to identify defects and support maintenance programs.
• Manage key control services including cutting, duplicating, issuing, and tracking keys.
• Perform maintenance and minor modifications to doors, frames, locks, and access hardware.
