Job summary

Kiwa PPI is seeking an experienced Welding QA Inspector to support the restoration of an existing facility in Venezuela, with operations across Colombia, Mexico, Brazil. The role ensures welding activities meet design, codes, and project specs, acting as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and procedures, verifying materials and setup, performing visual inspections, coordinating NDT/NDE, and documenting NCRs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering (or related field).
• Recognized certification such as AWS CWI, CSWIP, or ASNT Level II.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience in welding QA.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW).
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and codes (AWS D1.1, ASME IX, API).
• Technical English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications to ensure compliance before welding begins.
• Verify base materials, joint preparation, and equipment setup prior to welding.
• Perform visual weld inspections to control size, quality, and conformance.
• Perform or coordinate NDT/NDE methods such as UT, RT, MT, and PT.
• Monitor welding activities to ensure adherence to procedures.
• Document inspection results, NCRs, and track corrective actions.
• Advise welders and supervisors on quality issues and corrective measures.

We are currently seeking an experienced Welding QA Inspector in Colombia, Mexico and Brazil to support the restoration of an existing facility in Venezuela.

A Welding QA Inspector is responsible for confirming that welding activities comply with design requirements, industry codes, and project specifications. They act as a key liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
Overview:

Contract Type: Third-Party Contract.

Schedule: Shifts of up to 12 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Personnel will provide hands-on support for the restoration of an existing unit.

Ability to work effectively both within a team and with minimal supervision is required.

Responsibilities

Review drawings, WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications to ensure full compliance before welding begins.

Verify base materials, joint preparation, and equipment setup prior to welding.
