Job summary

XP is seeking an HSSE Manager to lead the development and continuous improvement of our HSSE framework in Caracas, Venezuela. You will report to the Country Manager and collaborate with the Group HSSE Director, spending about half your time in the field with teams and contractors.

The role demands a strong track record in oil & gas HSSE leadership, regulatory compliance, and process safety. Fluency in Spanish and working English are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental) or Occupational Safety/Environmental Sciences.
• Master's degree in HSE or Environmental Management is an advantage.
• 10+ years in oil & gas with at least 5 years in HSSE leadership.
• Strong background in upstream onshore operations.
• NEBOSH Diploma or IGC, ISO 45001/14001 Lead Auditor qualifications.
• CSP/CRSP, IOSH Managing Safely; ICAM or TapRooT investigator is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Venezuelan HSSE legislation and compliance.
• Experience implementing HSSE/OEMS management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Experience leading incident investigations using RCA methods.
• Experience with methane/LDAR, GHG reporting is a plus.
• Strong data skills: Excel, Power BI; HSE software (Enablon, Cority, Intelex, Sphera).
• Fluent Spanish; professional working English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and enhancement of the HSSE Management System aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and best practices.
• Drive risk management processes including HAZID, HAZOP, JSA, MOC, Permit-to-Work, and Process Safety programs.
• Build a strong safety culture through leadership, coaching, and engagement.
• Lead incident investigations using RCA methods (ICAM, TapRooT).
• Deliver environmental compliance and sustainability reporting per Group commitments.
• Manage security risk assessments, site security plans, and crisis preparedness.
• Oversee contractor HSSE management across drilling, workover, production and field ops.
• Serve as HSSE interface with authorities, partners, contractors, and communities.
