BairesDev is seeking a Backend Engineer (Kotlin) to design and maintain scalable server-side applications within the JVM ecosystem. You will contribute as a technical leader, building robust microservices and distributed systems using Kotlin.

The role emphasizes RESTful APIs, data persistence with PostgreSQL, Kafka-based event streaming, and collaboration with global teams. This 100% remote position offers USD compensation and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in JVM-based backend development.
• Deep expertise in Kotlin for building microservices and distributed systems.
• Proven experience with Spring Boot and its integration with Kotlin.
• Strong proficiency in data persistence using Spring Data JPA and PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for asynchronous messaging and event-driven architecture.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs to ensure seamless service communication and good user experiences.
• Implement efficient data persistence layers using JPA and PostgreSQL to manage complex entities.
• Orchestrate event-driven architectures and real-time data flows with Kafka and AWS.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect scalable microservices that meet enterprise standards.
• Write clean, maintainable code and implement comprehensive unit tests to ensure reliability.
