Job summary

Scale Up is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage end-to-end bookkeeping for multiple Canadian clients in a fully remote role. You will maintain client records, run month-end closes, and ensure accurate reconciliations.

You’ll collaborate with senior accountants, communicate with clients via email and Zoom, and use Xero or QuickBooks Online with modern document tools to streamline workflows. A strong client-service mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
• Public Practice experience managing multiple client accounts.
• Cloud tech stack mastery with Xero or QuickBooks Online (certification expected).
• Canadian compliance knowledge including GST/HST/PST and payroll processing.
• High ownership mentality and exceptional attention to detail.
• Comfortable with repetitive monthly deadline cycles.
• AI-first problem-solving mindset with proactive adaptability and client empathy.
• Independent worker who collaborates well with a wider team.
• Excellent communication and English language skills.
• Strong foundational bookkeeping skills and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Maintain end-to-end management of client cloud accounting platforms (Xero or QuickBooks Online) with meticulous accuracy.
• Manage receipts, bills, and source documents using automated fetching and extraction tools (e.g., Dext, Hubdoc).
• Code daily bank feed entries and perform monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, supplier, and clearing accounts.
• Process Canadian payroll transactions and manage statutory filings (CPP, EI, T4).
• Oversee Accounts Payable and monitor Accounts Receivable to support client cash flow.
• Execute complete month-end closes and draft financial reports under supervision.
• Serve as a direct, responsive point of contact for routine client inquiries and problem solving.
