Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Smart Technology Vietnam is seeking a Process Engineering Manager to lead design, implementation and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams in mechanical, electronics, test software, and industrial engineering, collaborating daily with Production and Quality to optimize operations.

The role emphasizes DFM/DFX, BOM accuracy, and Lean practices, with a focus on achieving efficient capacity and strong cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience.
• 5+ years of leadership and people-management experience.
• Proficient English written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes.
• Coach and develop Process Engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
• Drive DFM, DFA, DFT and equipment/test system development during NPI.
• Oversee BOM changes and Product Data Management activities.
• Implement Lean, Kaizen, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Ensure OEE targets and optimize factory capacity and layouts.

• Location: Factory No.6, Lot CN6, Ba Thien Industrial Park, Ba Thien Industrial Zone, Binh Tuyen Commune, Phu Tho Province, Vietnam
• Job overview:
• The Process Engineering Manager leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. The role oversees multidisciplinary teams in mechanical engineering, electronics hardware, test software, PDM and industrial engineering, while collaborating daily with Production, Quality, and other operational functions.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Coach, mentor, and develop the Process Engineering team to strengthen capability and maintain high performance.
• Set clear objectives, delegate effectively, provide constructive feedback, and manage individual and team performance against agreed targets.
• Lead multidisciplinary Process Engineering teams across mechanical, electronics hardware, and software functions to resolve product performance and manufacturing issues during NPI and mass production.
• Drive DFM, DFA, and DFT activities, including equipment, fixture, and automated test system development, during NPI builds.
• Lead the Product Data Management team in accurate BOM implementation and ensure timely execution of engineering changes.
• Lead the Industrial Engineering team in implementing optimization strategies and ensuring production capacity aligns with changing demand.
• Drive Industry 4.0, Lean, value-stream mapping, Kaizen, and other continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Lead factory-wide Total Productive Maintenance implementation to achieve OEE targets and minimize equipment downtime.
• Lead the software development team in enhancing MES capabilities and automated functional testing.
• Coordinate Operational Excellence assessments, including planning, cross-plant alignment, evidence preparation, gap closure, and audit communication.
• Manage factory capacity and asset planning to support operational requirements.
• Optimize factory layouts to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency.
• Monitor consumable and spare-parts costs and implement optimization measures.
• Participate in Value Analysis and Value Engineering workshops and share manufacturing lessons learned.
• Identify competency gaps, implement individual development plans, and support succession planning for critical team roles.
• Resolve conflicts, lead organizational change, and foster an inclusive, accountable, and collaborative workplace.
• Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
• At least eight years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience, particularly in mechanical and electronics assembly.
• At least five years of leadership experience with demonstrated people-management capability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in Vietnamese, Korean, and/or Chinese is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of industrial engineering and Lean manufacturing principles.
• Strong knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance practices.
• Good understanding of return on investment and budgeting principles.
• Good knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and Lean practices.
• Strong organizational and management skills.
• Creative and open-minded thinker with strong listening skills, respect for diverse viewpoints, and a drive to learn, explore, and deliver results.
• Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills across Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.
