Amentum seeks a Carpentry Supervisor for the US Embassy Caracas under the DiPSS Venezuela BLS contract. The role oversees a multinational team, directs relocation and minor furniture repairs, and ensures safety and compliance with SOW requirements.

Strong carpentry, leadership, and communication are essential. Responsibilities include inspections, coordinating office and residential moves, maintaining tools and materials, and reporting to the O&M Manager.

Formación

  • Eight (8) years of general carpentry experience in operations and maintenance services.
  • Three (3) years of operations and maintenance (O&M) experience in an overseas setting.
  • Knowledge of roofing, concrete form construction, and flooring installations.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Responsabilidades

  • Provide daily work assignments and supervise a multinational workforce of Locksmiths and Carpenters.
  • Perform carpentry services including installation and repairs of floors, windows, stairs, and fixtures.
  • Manage relocation of staff for office and residential areas and coordinate furniture delivery and installation.
  • Report problems to the Assistant O&M Manager and perform inspections.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts; handle inventory and scheduling.

The Carpentry Supervisor will be based at Amentum sites in US Embassy, Caracas supporting DiPSS Venezuela BLS contract in support of the US. Department of State. This position will take ownership of all offices and residential relocation, and minor furniture repair services and will report to the site O&M Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

DUTIES:
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
  • Provide daily work assignments and supervise a multi-national workforce of Locksmiths and Carpenters.
  • Perform carpentry services such as:
    • Carpet installation and replacement
    • Tile and linoleum replacement
    • Windows, window frames, and screens
    • Stair repairs including treading stairs
    • Make and install signs
    • Coat rack and similar fixture installation
    • Drywall, steel studs, ceiling tracks and ceiling tile layout and installation
    • Piping and equipment, office and residential areas, and installation of Steelcase office furniture.
  • Perform minor furniture repair services, including repair services that can be resolved on site within an eight-hour timeframe. May include bookcases, cabinets, shelves, chairs, tables, doors, door bolts, and doorframes.
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement relocation of staff for both office and residential areas. This includes coordination of the delivery and installation of office and residential furniture from the warehouse.
  • Report any problems or lack of compliance with Statement of Work (SOW) to the Assistant O&M Manager.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
  • Assist in developing the Statement of Work (SOW) when requested.
  • Maintain effective, timely, and respectful communication and interaction with other employees, managers, and supports other organizations.
  • Perform other administrative tasks including ordering material, inventorying, and scheduling work.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data for report preparation and submit written reports.
  • Be responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Perform additional duties and projects assigned.
REQUIRED:
  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
    • Eight (8) years’ general carpentry experience in operations and maintenance services.
    • Three (3) years’ operations and maintenance (O&M) experience in an overseas setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of:
      • Roofing - shingle and sheet-metal.
      • Concrete form construction including mixing and finishing.
      • Carpeting includes laying tile carpet and runner carpeting.
      • Flooring types and installation.
      • Operation of all normal fixed and portable carpentry shop tools.
    • Knowledge of applicable U.S. Codes and accepted trade practices.
    • Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of carpentry, painting and furniture repair trades and related safety precautions.
    • Good organizational, time management, and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
    • Ability to take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety, and electrical codes.
    • Ability to evaluate operational effectiveness and develop/maintain effective operational control mechanisms.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting carpentry, and minor furniture repair functions at an overseas facility.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
    • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
    • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.
    • Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.
    • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED and completion of an Apprentice program.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Valid drivers’ license
    • Contractor’s license in Carpentry, not required but a plus
    • As part of pre- pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages.
  • Security Vetting: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain Secret Clearance.
  • Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
  • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Venezuela. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
  • DESIRED
    • Training and experience with rough carpentry finish carpentry, cabinet making, furniture repair, and furniture construction is highly desired.
    • AA/AS trade’s degree from a two-year college and/or equivalent field experience.
    • Experience working with SOW, sub-contractors, budgets, estimating, working drawings, and as built.
    • Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.
    • Experience working with Amentum.
