A higher education institution is seeking a Teaching Assistant for an online course titled Explore Engineering Innovation. The role involves supporting the Instructor and Teaching Fellow, assisting students remotely, and grading assignments. Candidates must have completed the Explore Engineering Innovation course or a first-year engineering degree. Availability for the course period from June 29 to July 31, along with pre-course training, is required. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $15.70 to $26.25, depending on experience.
Explore Engineering Innovation is based on an introductory engineering course taught to undeclared freshman engineering students at JHU. EEI covers a range of fundamental engineering topics including materials science, computer science, civil, mechanical, and chemical engineering. The course includes lectures but focuses on hands‑on lab experiments and group data analysis. Graded coursework includes lab reports, homework assignments, a group presentation, and a design project. At the end of the course, students who pass the course receive JHU credit. The ultimate goal of the course is to expose students to engineering principles, allow them to apply the math and science learned in high school to solve real‑world problems, and help students develop critical thinking skills.
Each class of EEI consists of 16‑24 students with diverse academic backgrounds. Each class is typically team‑taught by a PhD‑level engineer and a high‑school teacher who teaches a STEM discipline. Selected sections of EEI also have an assigned Teaching Assistant (TA). We are seeking a Teaching Assistant – EEI – Online who will support the teaching efforts of the Instructor and Teaching Fellow.

Schedule: 37.5 hrs/wkly; 7 days – Course runs June 29 – July 31, Monday through Friday. Each class meets synchronously for a single 3‑hour block at the same time each day. The synchronous class meeting will occur during one of the following time intervals: 9 am – noon, 2‑5 pm, or 7‑10 pm.
