Job summary

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha, NE is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join the Animal Health team and support a high-quality veterinary program for our diverse collection.

You will collaborate with veterinarians and technicians, assist in anesthesia monitoring and diagnostics, maintain hospital operations, and mentor students and interns while upholding regulatory standards.

This full-time, on-site role offers weekend scheduling opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technician program.
• Pass VTNE and obtain Nebraska license within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team with animal care staff.
• Strong computer skills and reliable documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support for preventative, routine, and emergency care of Zoo, Aquarium, and Safari Park animals.
• Assist in anesthesia monitoring and diagnostics (phlebotomy, radiographs, CT, lab work).
• Maintain hospital operations: inventory, equipment care, cleaning and readiness.
• Mentor visiting students, interns, and residents; provide guidance as needed.
• Support pharmacy program and ensure regulatory compliance and record-keeping.
