Job summary

San Antonio Zoo is seeking a Ticket Clerk to welcome guests, sell admission tickets, and provide information about daily activities. You will work at the entrance, handling cash and processing various ticket options while helping groups of students and guests have a smooth visit.

The role requires a positive guest service attitude, reliability, and availability to work day, night, weekends, and holidays. Training will cover cash handling, security procedures, and potential after-hour assignments.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to use various types of electronic cash registers.
• Six (6) months in a theme park or hospitality industry is preferred.
• Six (6) months of cash register/cash-handling experience in a retail operation is preferred.
• Six (6) months in the customer services industry is preferred.
• Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
• We enjoy year-round operation for all staff and must be available day, nights, holidays, weekends, and occasional special after-hour assignments.

Responsibilities

• Greet each guest as they approach the Zoo.
• Provide excellent guest service and assist with ticket purchases.
• Handle admission tickets and other entry packages at the entrance.
• Maintain cash handling accuracy and account for funds.
• Upsell memberships, ticket options, wristbands and donations.
• Provide information about daily activities at the zoo.
• Work with groups of school children to process admissions.
• Read and follow cash handling policies.
• Ensure security checks for prohibited items.
• Perform basic housekeeping in the ticket sales booth.
• Receive and verify purchased tickets.
• Operate standard office and money processing machines.
