Job summary

The North Carolina Zoo is seeking a 1st Shift Assistant Emergency Operations team member to support the Emergency Operations branch with 24/7/365 radio and telephone communications, life safety systems, and medical services. Duties include guest assistance, crowd direction, and emergency response in a dynamic park environment.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED; EMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent) is required.
• EMT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide guests with exceptional customer service as outlined in the Emergency Operations Manual.
• Know and apply park policies and procedures for guest and emergency situations; address guests professionally.
• Assist guests with wayfinding throughout the Zoo and with guest escorts from the park.
• Assist with parking and directing traffic on Connector Road and in parking lots, including overflow areas.
• Respond to radio and telephone calls professionally; report complex situations to Zoo Communications.
• Provide assistance in potential emergency situations and follow safety guidelines for guests and staff.
• Drive golf carts and other vehicles as needed; perform other duties as assigned.
