Job summary

  • Experience with residential or commercial real estate transactions is a plus.
  • Interest in real estate development, zoning, and land use law.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in representing developers, property owners, and investors in zoning and land use matters.
  • Research and analyze municipal ordinances, zoning regulations, land use statutes, and related authorities.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of site plans, variances, subdivisions, redevelopment, and other land use applications.
  • Prepare legal correspondence, applications, and documents related to zoning and land use matters.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for and appearing before planning boards, zoning boards, land use boards, and historic preservation commissions.
  • Evaluate properties and development projects from a zoning and land use perspective.
  • Assist with due diligence relating to real estate acquisitions and development opportunities.
  • Communicate directly with clients and guide them through the legal and municipal approval process.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic support on development and regulatory issues.
  • Assist with real estate matters and transactions as they relate to development and land use projects.
  • Manage assigned matters and deadlines with clear communication.

Role Description

CQC Law firm is seeking a full-time Zoning & Land Use Associate Attorney to join our New Jersey practice and work closely with our attorneys on a broad range of real estate development and land use matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is interested in developing a practice focused on zoning, land use, real estate development, and municipal approvals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in real estate or related legal practice, excellent research and writing skills, and a genuine interest in learning the land use and zoning process. The attorney will assist developers, property owners, and investors in navigating zoning and land use matters from the initial evaluation of a property through the municipal approval process. The position offers meaningful hands-on experience and the opportunity to develop expertise in a specialized and highly collaborative area of real estate law.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar and membership in good standing.
  • Strong foundation in legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Experience in real estate, land use, zoning, municipal law, or a related practice area.
