Job summary

York County Government's Planning and Development Department seeks a full-time Zoning Code Enforcement Officer to enforce land use and nuisance codes. This non-exempt position requires investigation, documentation, court testimony, and the ability to drive to affected properties.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate’s Degree and at least three years of code enforcement or law enforcement experience, plus a valid SC driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• Three (3) years of code enforcement or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to citizen complaints of ordinance violations.
• Work with property owners and County staff to resolve violations.
• Research zoning and ownership of non-compliant properties.
• Conduct field investigations, gather evidence, and prepare notices of violation; driving may be required.
• Assist in preparing documentation and testify in court proceedings.
• Enforce sign and nuisance ordinances; coordinate with other County departments.
• Perform related work as assigned.
