Job summary

The Town of Bolton is seeking a part-time Zoning Administrator to support the Planning Commission and Development Review Board. The ZA will be the primary contact for permit applications and enforce Bolton Land Use regulations under Vermont law.

The successful candidate will work up to 16 hours per week, with duties performed at the Bolton Town Office and during evening meetings, requiring strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year relevant work experience.
• Ability to work with a variety of people under sometimes difficult circumstances.
• General knowledge of municipal land use planning, zoning and land use law.
• Self-directed with ability to meet deadlines and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret regulations, site plans and drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with online resources, datasets and mapping platforms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary town contact for all permit applications and information requests.
• Undertake required zoning administrator duties under Vermont law.
• Support Planning Commission and DRB with staff work and reports.
• Attend DRB and Planning Commission meetings as scheduled.
