Job Summary

Perform a wide variety of manual tasks in the kitchen or dining area of a food activity, involving light to moderate physical effort, following established procedures. Serve as a lead, providing guidance to lower-level employees, and perform duties as Supervisor in their absence.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Serve as lead and provide guidance to Food Service Workers.
  • Set up food on self-serving lines and portion food for individual servings according to instructions.
  • Refill cold bar, salad bars, pastry cabinets, condiments, juice dispensers, and set up dining rooms. Replace glassware/dishes and silverware, refill condiment containers.
  • Cleans counters and trays, maintains cleanliness of preparation, work, and display areas.
  • Greet customers at the service counter and answer basic questions about specialty foods.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform ware-washing, keeping pots and pans area in order before, during, and after meals.
  • May assign duties to lower-level employees in the absence of the cafeteria supervisor.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 year of food service-related experience preferred.
  • Security clearance or background requirements as per contract.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of sanitation, training, security, customer relations, safety, and equipment maintenance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions; noise level is usually loud.
