Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center is seeking a dependable maintenance professional to support the Kent Campus in Dover, DE. You will perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general trades to keep hospital campuses safe and functional.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and about two years of facility maintenance experience in a healthcare setting. Day shifts, full-time, with potential for emergency coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Performs PM and repair activities in accordance with Bayhealth’s Joint Commission Compliant Building Maintenance Program.
  • Maintains exterior building and grounds conditions as needed.
  • Repairs doors, walls, ceilings, fixtures, and related hardware.
  • Completes assigned work orders meeting established standards.
  • Follows safety practices and reports deficiencies to management.

Location: Kent Campus Hospital, Dover Delaware
Status: Full Time 80 Hours Biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 22.76 - 34.14 HOURLY
General Summary:

Performs a variety of skilled and semiskilled work in connection with the maintenance and repair of Bayhealth’s main hospital campuses and satellite buildings. Work assignments involve planned maintenance, assigned maintenance or repairs, work requests and system troubleshooting in several building maintenance trades: to include painting, plastering, carpentry, roofing, masonry, basic electricity, basic HVAC, and plumbing. The individual may be required to work alternate shifts depending on staffing levels, projects and emergent situations.

Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs PM and repair activities in accordance with Bayhealth’s Joint Commission Compliant Building Maintenance Program.
  • Ensures external building and grounds conditions are safely and aesthetically maintained if required.
  • Maintains and preserves the integrity and appearance of all walls, doors, fixtures, and ceilings throughout Bayhealth’s hospitals and other satellite buildings. Repairs doors (manual and automatic) and associated hardware walls, ceiling, flooring, lighting, windows, furniture, beds, roofing, masonry units, assigned systems, etc. Maintains accurate directional and identification type signage.
  • Complete all assigned work orders meeting established standards, defined by management.
  • Completes all assigned Preventative Maintenance tasks meeting established standards, defined by management.
  • Appropriately reports any system deficiencies to management when repairs are outside of their abilities.
  • Follows all department safe work practices and procedures including use of PPE when required.
  • Completes and follows all departmental and organizational permits pertaining to the environment of care and safety. (Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Utility Shutdown, Etc.)
  • This role is deemed essential and requires participation in emergencies that are related to weather and facility occurrences. Some activities may include but are not limited to snow removal, storm preparation, and utility outages. The individual may be utilized to support other departments during an emergency.
  • All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
  • Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED ;
  • Credential(s):
  • Driver License Driving Record Required. ; Due to insurance carrier requirements, all staff must be at least 21 years of age with a current class D driver’s license with no more than 2 moving violations or accidents in the past 3 years.
  • Experience:
  • Required: Two years’ experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of complex facilities and systems; including use of advanced skills in plumbing, electric, air conditioning/ refrigeration, locksmith and/or allied maintenance trade. Preferred: Hands-on recent (last 3 years) experience in the operation and maintenance of a healthcare facility Experience in broad range of maintenance activities in a fast paced environment
