Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Zone Manager to lead campus facilities operations, oversee shop mechanics, and manage renewal-type projects from concept to completion.
You will coordinate with leadership, union labor, and contractors while ensuring fiscal value and customer satisfaction across the zone. The role involves managing capital and expense projects, bid documentation, and interfacing with building representatives to promote continuous improvement.

The Zone Manager supports the campus community and their maintenance needs. They oversee the operation of shop Mechanics who provide skilled sevice to the entire campus. This position also manages small and medium sized renewal type projects across the campus from the conceptual phase to implementation. They Interact with leadership management, zone managers, union labor and contractors plus oversee the applicable contracting process in the zone. This position also manages assigned capital and expense projects including all bid documentation development, sourcing, obtaining quotes, scheduling, overseeing progress and completion. This includes ensuring fiscal value by using internal labor where feasible and interface with building representatives to ensure customer satisfaction and solicit feedback to promote continuous improvement.
Job Location/Working Conditions: This position requires 24-hour on-call availability for emergencies. The position requires frequent work/being on campus outside of normal business hours for meetings, overseeing facilities-related activities, including involvement with campus-wide events, such as Move-in, Orientation, Convocation, Parents Weekend, Commencement, etc. and university student group sponsored events which may occur in specific areas of the campus.
Physical Effort: Ability to do extensive walking, climbing stairs/ladders, bending, passing through restricted/noisy passageways/equipment rooms, conducting visual inspections (including roofs), etc.
Equipment: Office equipment.

$75,200.00 - $128,800.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
