Job summary

Icy Strait Point is seeking a Zip Rider Operator to ensure guests are safely prepared and guided through the ride experience. You will strap guests in, lead safety briefings, and maintain harness operations for the next ride while sharing information about local attractions.

The role requires strong safety awareness, verbal communication, and the ability to lead groups of all ages. Training and CPR certification are ongoing requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have clear understanding of safety protocols and passenger handling.
• Ability to communicate clearly with guests of all ages.
• Experience leading groups and maintaining order during activities.
• Must maintain First Aid/CPR certification or obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Securely strap guests into the harness seat at the start of the ride and remove them at the end.
• Use a two-check process at the top tower.
• Return harnesses to the top tower.
• Retrieve returned harnesses for the start of the next ride.
• Learn and impart knowledge about Icy Strait Point and its offerings to guests.
• Participate in required training and safety meetings.
• Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Other duties as assigned.

Zip Rider Operator is responsible for ensuring riders are safely prepared to participate in the world’s largest Zip Rider.

Responsibilities

• Securely strap guests into the harness seat at the start of the ride and remove them from the harness seat at the end of the ride.
• Use a two‑check process at the top tower.
• Return harnesses to the top tower.
• Retrieve returned harnesses for the start of the next ride.
• Learn and impart knowledge to guests about all that Icy Strait Point has to offer, including history, tours, food and beverage venues, retail products and venues.
• Participate in all required training and safety meetings.
• Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture.
• Must be able to learn a Tlingit Introduction.
• Knowledge of the local area (marine life, plants, animals, birds).
• Must have good verbal communication; patient and able to lead groups of kids as well as adults.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Capable of moderate physical activity including standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting more than 40 lbs; able to visually identify safety hazards.
• This is a safety‑sensitive position that is subject to drug testing.
• Must be 18 years of age or older for the top tower and 16 years of age for the bottom tower.
• Patience.
• Group Leadership.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
