Job summary

The Mechanobiology of Morphogenesis Laboratory at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking a part-time Research Associate (28 hours/week) to support zebrafish aquaculture and related experiments under Dr. Weiyi Qian in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Biological Sciences required.
  • Prior research experience in a laboratory setting.
  • English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work independently and with others.

Responsibilities

  • Care, breeding, and rearing of zebrafish, as well as conducting genotyping and phenotyping procedures to support ongoing research.
  • Monitor fish facility and laboratory inventory and assist with ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain fish facility and laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions to support ongoing research activities.
  • Present findings at lab meetings, respond to challenges, and participate in exchanges of ideas to advance the science.
  • Record all experimental findings in an electronic laboratory notebook, analyzing and interpreting results.
