Job summary

Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences is seeking an Animal Technician to care for zebrafish in a research facility. Under direction of the head of the fish facility, you will maintain health, provide a stable environment, and document daily conditions while following safety protocols.

This role involves potential exposure to BSL1/BSL2 materials with PPE training provided. Some weekend coverage may be required; salary grade 048 applies to a one-year appointment.

Qualifications

• At least six months experience in animal care or equivalent.
• Biology background strongly preferred with related care experience.
• Detail oriented with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily health observations and report adverse findings.
• Maintain clean, sanitized work areas and document room conditions.
• Monitor water quality, temperature, salinity, and pH; record tests.
• Assist with room training and occasional lab experiments including spawning and genotyping.
