POSITION SUMMARY

The position is responsible for resurfacing the ice and general maintenance of the facility. The driver position will be responsible for opening and/or closing of the facility, ice resurfacing, general cleaning and toiletry restocking, supervising the building, refuse disposal, and pro-shop duties including skate sharpening and selling equipment.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

• Operate the ice resurfacer to ensure quality ice in a timely manner.
• Follow the outlined procedures for ice plant mechanical room, locker room assignments, and building maintenance.
• Operate skate sharpening equipment and cash register for pro-shop.
• Maintain ice surface to high standards.
• Maintain a clean facility, perform general outside maintenance such as shoveling snow and salting sidewalks.
• Provide building supervision to support and enforce facility policies, ISD 12 policies, procedures, and safety rules.
• Be courteous, patient, approachable, and visible for customer questions and concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid driver’s license
• 18 years of age or older
• Ability to work evenings and/or weekends

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment or Olympia/Zamboni ice resurfacers.
• Display mechanical aptitude appropriate to the various mechanical systems in an arena operation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/REQUIREMENTS

• Working Conditions:
  • Rink temperature is 55 degrees: jacket/sweatshirt often required.
  • Wet conditions: refilling the resurfacer may splash water at times, waterproof footwear recommended.
  • Slippery surfaces: ice cleats must be worn when walking onto ice sheet.
• Physical Demands:
  • Lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, walk, and kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, and peripheral vision.
• Work Hours and Schedules:
  • Work hours are primarily evenings (4:30 PM – 11:30 PM) and weekends.
  • Drivers are typically assigned to the same days and shifts each week for consistency and ease of scheduling.

WAGES

$18.00 – $20.00 per hour
