BronxWorks is hiring (4) Youth Workers for the SONY Program.

Responsibilities

1. Assist Program Director or Program Coordinator with the development of program goals and activities for youth.
2. Create a nurturing and supportive environment for the youth.
3. Implement various recreational, educational, social, and team building activities.
4. Provide classroom management and instruction.
5. Act as a liaison with parents.
6. Attend regular staff meetings.
7. Attend First Aid, CPR, and Responding to Emergency (RTE) training.
8. Attend staff training sessions.
9. Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. One year experience working with youth in a recreational, educational, and/or social environment.
3. Clearance through New York State Central Registry and NYS Office of Children and Family Services required.
4. Experience with or knowledge of best practices in youth development preferred.
5. Experience with or knowledge of whole language philosophy preferred.
6. Must be 18 years old.
7. Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology.

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
2. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
3. Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods.
4. Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required for home visits or fieldwork.
5. Ability to bend and retrieve objects/documents.
6. Ability to travel within NYC boroughs and adjacent counties via public transportation.
7. Ability to travel at least 1 mile in all weather conditions for home visits or fieldwork.
8. TB Test required within first 120 days of employment for Shelters and Homeless outreach.
