Job summary

Newport Academy is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to play a hands-on role in shaping the daily experience of adolescent and young adult patients in our behavioral health programs. You will help create a safe, structured, and compassionate environment where patients feel supported and empowered.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 21 and valid drivers license.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelors preferred.
• Patient-first mindset and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to remain calm, make sound decisions under pressure.
• Flexible shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays.
• Strong teamwork and communication with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, compassionate care and supervision for patients.
• Guide patients through daily schedules including therapy, meals, and transitions.
• Lead or support experiential activities promoting healing and connection.
• Model calm, respectful behavior and healthy coping strategies.
• Stay grounded during high-stress situations and help restore calm.
• Collaborate with the care team to maintain a unified environment.
