Job summary

Newport Healthcare in Minnesota is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to support adolescent and young adult patients in our behavioral health programs. You will provide hands-on care and maintain a safe, structured, compassionate environment as a key member of the care team.

You will guide patients through daily schedules, including therapy, meals, and transitions, and lead or support experiential activities such as mindfulness and group experiences, building trust and connection.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; BA/BS in psychology, counseling, or sociology preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• Shifts may include day, evening, overnight, weekend or holiday
• Patient-first mindset with empathy and cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, supportive space with consistent, compassionate care and supervision.
• Guide patients through daily activities: therapy, groups, meals, transitions.
• Lead or support mindfulness, recreation, and group experiences.
• Model calm, respectful behavior and healthy coping strategies.
• Stay grounded during high-stress situations and help restore calm.
• Collaborate with team members to sustain a connected care environment.
