Job summary

Wedgwood Christian Services in Grand Rapids, MI seeks caring staff for Direct Care services in residential programs. You will transport residents to appointments, support intake/discharge processes, and assist the care team with daily activities within a trauma‑informed framework.

The role emphasizes supervision of youth, maintaining professional boundaries, and accurate record-keeping while applying crisis intervention techniques as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; education in Psychology/Social Work/Counseling preferred.
• Prior experience supervising adolescents with emotional/behavioral disorders preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Demonstrates organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
• Must provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail; meet deadlines.
• Criminal history screen required including child protection registries.
• Vaccination requirements: Varicella, MMR, DTaP/DTap, and annual Flu per policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation to clients for medical, legal appointments, hearings, and social agency visits.
• Assist with intake and discharge transportation, including state-to-state travel for reunification.
• Assist the case management team with administrative tasks.
• Supervise youth and maintain trauma-informed environment.
• Maintain professional boundaries while supervising residents.
• Observe resident behavior and apply non-violent crisis interventions as needed.
• Provide a positive role model; support daily activities and responsibilities.
• Maintain records and reports for the residential program.
