Job summary

State of Missouri, Division of Youth Services in Hillsboro, MO, seeks a part-time Social Service Aide/Community Mentor to transport youth to school and activities, build constructive relationships, and support their development. A valid driver’s license is required, and the role pays hourly with no benefits.

Typical shifts run mornings and/or afternoons, with about 39 hours every two weeks. You will be driving a 14-passenger mini-bus or transit van, no special license required.

Qualifications

• Empathy and a nonjudgmental attitude when working with youth.
• Ability to communicate clearly and honestly with youth, families and staff.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Experience or coursework related to social services or juvenile care is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Transport youth to school, appointments, and activities in a state vehicle.
• Spend time with youth to build constructive relationships and provide guidance.
• Serve as a positive role model and support system.
• Assist youth with employment, driving permits, HiSET testing, and connecting to community resources.
• Meet regularly with a supervisor and report on youth progress.
