Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field; OR
• Associate's degree plus two years of directly relevant experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation.
• 1-2 years of experience working with youth in residential, clinical, educational, or camp/recreation therapy setting.
• Preferred: experience with trauma, mental health conditions, or developmental disabilities; supervisory or training experience.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• CPI certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess each youth’s physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs using standardized tools and build individualized recreation plans with measurable goals.
• Plan, lead, adapt, and evaluate individual and group therapeutic recreation activities for PRTF and QRTP residents.
• Create and distribute a quarterly recreation and leisure calendar and submit monthly schedules.
• Prepare and maintain Direct Care Worker activity packs and train staff to lead activities across shifts.
• Coordinate community outings and partnerships with local organizations and providers.
• Host signature events, athletic activities, swimming lessons, and skill-building opportunities.
• Complete Independent Living Skills assessments and design activities that support transitions home.
• Track client progress and complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Support youth development through mentoring, recognition programs, and scheduled programming.
• Develop and maintain recreation emergency preparedness plans and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Report safety concerns immediately and fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
