Job summary

YMCA Maplewood seeks an energetic leader to supervise a group of children in Computer Lab classes. You will design and deliver a program specialty in 3D printing, modeling, coding or stop-motion, tailoring activities to each age group while fostering creativity and teamwork.

You’ll train assistants, lead daily specialty activities, manage supplies and maintain the lab equipment. The role emphasizes safety, positive discipline and building strong relationships with families to support youth

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with 3D printers and software, coding software, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Interest and experience in area of specialty.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, set up and deliver activities in specialty areas (3D Printing, Modeling, Coding, Stop Motion) tailored to each age group.
• Instruct assistants on teaching activities within the specialty when needed.
• Lead specialty activities/classes each program day.
• Manage supply inventory and keep lab and equipment organized and maintained.
• Greet participants with enthusiasm and learn their names while meeting participant needs.
• Foster youth development, model problem solving, and maintain group control and safety.
• Ensure volunteers have a good experience and encourage participation.
• Build positive relationships with families and learn why they come to the Y.
• Maintain cleanliness of the program area and participate actively in all activities.
• Be punctual, professional and proactive in all duties.
