Job summary

MoCo Bouldering & Fitness in Conroe, TX is seeking a Youth Team Head Coach to build and grow a multi-level youth climbing program. Initially part‑time with a path to full‑time salaried leadership, the role focuses on developing Recreational, Development, and Competition tiers.

You’ll lead practices, design training plans, and guide athletes through local to national events, while cultivating a supportive, disciplined team environment and strong parent communication.

Qualifications

  • Previous climbing coaching experience.
  • Experience working with youth athletes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of competition climbing and training methodologies.
  • A passion for mentoring young climbers.
  • Ability to build relationships with athletes and families.
  • Current SafeSport certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • USAC coaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all youth team practices.
  • Design season training plans and weekly practice schedules.
  • Prepare athletes for local, regional, and national competitions.
  • Attend competitions as the team’s primary coach.
  • Evaluate athletes and recommend advancement through team levels.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and disciplined team culture.

About MoCo Bouldering & Fitness

MoCo Bouldering & Fitness is a growing climbing gym in Conroe, Texas, built around creating an inclusive, welcoming community and helping people discover a lifelong passion for climbing. As a young gym, we’re in an exciting stage of growth, and we’re looking for the right person to help build our youth climbing program into one of the premier teams in the region.

Position Overview

We’re seeking an experienced, passionate Youth Team Head Coach to lead and grow our youth climbing program. While coaching responsibilities begin as a part‑time workload, this position is designed to become a full‑time salaried role by combining coaching with additional leadership responsibilities throughout the gym.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to build a program—not simply inherit one.

Our current youth program consists of a single team. Our vision is to develop multiple levels, including:

  • Recreational Team
  • Development Team
  • Competition Team

The Head Coach will play a major role in creating that pathway.

Primary Coaching Responsibilities
  • Lead all youth team practices
  • Design season training plans and weekly practice schedules
  • Prepare athletes for local, regional, and national competitions
  • Attend competitions as the team’s primary coach
  • Evaluate athletes and recommend advancement through team levels
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and disciplined team culture
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding athlete progress

Compensation

This is a full‑time salaried position.

Salary will be based on experience and will include performance‑based raises tied directly to youth program participation and growth benchmarks.

As the team grows, your compensation grows alongside it.
