Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a dedicated Swim Instructor for the Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA to lead lessons, promote water safety, and foster an inclusive, positive learning environment.

You will prepare lesson plans, maintain records, supervise aides, and build strong relationships with members, volunteers, and families while helping participants reach their goals. Required certifications include YMCA Swim Instructor (or equivalent), CPR, AED, First Aid, and successful

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications required.
• Intro to the Y’s Cause and Culture, Living our Cause & I Hear you. Service with Care e-learning within first 30 days

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
• Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers program participants and families to other programs.
• Maintain records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
• Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Organize and put away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
• Train and supervise class aides as assigned.
