Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Swim Instructor to provide safe, engaging lessons at the Forsyth County Family YMCA. You will plan and lead aquatic classes, guiding participants to improve technique and confidence in the water.

Ideal candidates are at least 16, have YMCA swim instruction skills, and hold CPR, AED, First Aid, and other required certifications. Join a mission-driven team focused on healthy living and youth development.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications required.
• Intro to the Y’s Cause and Culture, Living our Cause & I Hear you. Service with Care e-learning within first 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
• Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers program participants and families to other programs.
• Maintain records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
• Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Organize and put away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
• Train and supervise class aides as assigned.
