Responsibilities

• Use knowledge of competitive swimming rules to coach various age groups per YMCA guidelines.
• Communicate swimmer progress and improvement opportunities to the Head Coach.
• Assist Head Coach in delivering high‑quality instruction to all participants.
• Build relationships with swimmers and their families.
• Ensure pool health and safety; report accidents and complete reports.
• Teach and model the YMCA Character Development values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.
• Be prepared for practice: arrive 15 minutes early, in proper attire, focused.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and members to foster team spirit.
• Observe and enforce all YMCA rules across pool areas and facilities; handle discipline.
• Support swimmers at meets; assist with substitutions and scratches.
• Attend practices, meets, trainings, and related functions.
• Maintain positive relations with members and families; escalate major issues.
• Act as a member service ambassador with knowledge of programs and schedules.
