Job summary

Division of Youth Services in Hillsboro, Missouri is seeking a Social Services Aide/Community Mentor to transport youth to school, appointments and activities in a 14-passenger vehicle. The role focuses on building constructive relationships, providing structure, and serving as a positive role model for youth in day treatment and residential settings.

The position is part-time, hourly, and not eligible for benefits.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of child development and the role of the family.
• Working knowledge of communicating with adolescent clients.
• Basic knowledge of causes of juvenile delinquency and current treatment methods.
• Ability to work with clients in an empathetic and understanding manner.
• Ability to communicate progress of the client to clients, family members and staff.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Transport youth to school, appointments, and meetings in a state vehicle.
• Spend time with youth to provide structure, guidance and positive role modeling.
• Assist youth with employment, driving permits, HiSET testing, and accessing resources.
• Meet regularly with supervisor and report information regarding youth progress.
