Job summary

Seneca Family of Agencies in Sacramento invites applicants for a Youth Stabilization Specialist to provide daily care, guidance, and emotional support within the Sacramento T-STRTP. You will help create a safe, structured environment that fosters emotional, behavioral, and social growth, with a focus on healing-centered, culturally responsive treatment.

Swing and night shifts available. The Sacramento T-STRTP serves youths 11–17 in a trauma-informed, family-driven program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus required experience
  • Associates degree with relevant experience considered
  • HS diploma with applicable experience accepted

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision, structure, and emotional support to youth per STRTP standards
  • Implement daily routines and activities aligned with treatment plans
  • Use trauma-informed communication to help youth manage distress
  • Intervene in crisis per policies to ensure safety
  • Participate in incident reviews and safety planning
  • Coordinate transportation for school, medical, and activities
  • Be part of on-call rotation to provide crisis support
  • Attend program meetings and complete documentation accurately
  • Engage in weekly supervision with supervisor
  • Support staff and participate in training and development

Description

As a Youth Stabilization Specialist, you will utilize your expertise to instill hope in youth by providing daily care, guidance, and emotional support in our program. Our multidisciplinary team aims to provide healing-centered and culturally responsive treatment for youth to uphold our value of respect as we actively support each youth’s stabilization and development. You’ll help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that promotes emotional, behavioral, and social growth. Our Youth Stabilization Specialists have the capacity to navigate joy, crisis work, and facilitate life skills. Utilize your skills to see the change in the clients we serve.

About the Sacramento T-STRTP

The Sacramento T-STRTP (Transitional-Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program) serves children and youth ages 11–17 in a supportive, strength-based, culturally competent, youth-centered, family-driven, trauma-informed, family-like environment. The program provides short-term, individualized treatment designed to help children and youth stabilize at-risk behaviors that may interfere with permanency, with the goal of reducing re-entry into STRTP or higher levels of care. Through partnership with youth, caregivers, and other natural supports, Sacramento T-STRTP offers a space for healing, stability, and skill-building so youth can successfully transition back to a more permanent setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide continuous supervision, structure, and emotional support to youth in accordance with STRTP licensing and agency standards
  • Implement daily routines, behavioral support strategies, and activities consistent with individual treatment plans
  • Utilize trauma-informed communication and de-escalation techniques to help youth manage distress or conflict
  • Intervene in crisis situations following approved agency and CDSS policies to ensure safety
  • Participate in incident reviews, safety planning, and staff debriefings to improve care practices
  • Coordinate and assist with making transportation arrangements for school, medical, social activities, therapy appointments, and court hearings
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide crisis support
  • Participate in program staff meetings and additional meetings when necessary
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, consistent with CDSS STRTP and agency requirements
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the program supervisor or designee

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • Education/Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree + 1 year of experience OR
    • Associate degree or equivalent + 2 year of applicable experience OR
    • High school diploma/GED + 3 years of applicable experience
    • Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid work involving direct supervision and care of youth or families in the social services field, including group homes, behavioral health, or child welfare settings
  • Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled ahead of time
  • At least 21 years old
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements

PREFERRED:

  • Experience providing care in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive environment strongly desired
  • Resolving crisis by utilizing effective crisis communication skills

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time
    • Day Shift
      • Sunday 7am-7pm, Monday -Wednesday 7am - 4pm OR
      • Wednesday - Friday 7am - 4pm, Saturday 7am - 7pm
  • Rotating on-call system, 1-2 times a month
    • Swing and Overnight shifts also available
